SAP Cloud Connector with BTP Step by Step (2022)

What is SAP Cloud Connector ?

SAP Cloud Connector is an application that can be installed on Windows, Linux or Mac OS. It creates a secure connection to the SAP cloud, so SAP cloud products can communicate safely with systems in a customer's on-premise or private cloud landscape.

Prerequisites

  1. SAP Cloud Connector access
  2. SAP BTP account access

Step-by-Step Configuration

1

Log in to SAP Cloud Connector

Open your Cloud Connector administration URL and sign in with your user name and password.

Add a Subaccount

Click the Connector tab, then click the + Add Subaccount button.

3

Open your BTP subaccount

Go to your BTP cockpit and click the subaccount you want to connect to SAPCC. Under Connectivity > Cloud Connectors you will see that no cloud connector is connected yet.

4

Note the Subaccount ID and Region

Click the Overview tab and note down the Subaccount ID and Region. You will need both in Cloud Connector.

Go back to Cloud Connector and complete the form:

Map your S/4 HANA system

Open the Cloud To On-Premise tab and click the + button to add a virtual mapping.

a) Back-end type

Select ABAP System and click Next.

Select back-end type

b) Protocol

Select your desired protocol (HTTP, HTTPS, RFC, etc.) and click Next.

Select protocol

c) Internal host and port

Enter your SAP S/4HANA address.

Enter the Internal Host without http:// or https://, because the protocol was already selected in the previous step.

d) Virtual host and port

The virtual host masks your real system address. In BTP it acts as the local address, so choose a name that follows your Basis guidelines (for example dev.virtual.host with port 8000).

e) Principal type

Select the principal type. In this tutorial we choose None.

  • Access Policy: Path And All Sub-Paths
Add Resource dialog

In this example the following paths were added:

  • /plugins/pluginrepository
  • /sap/bc/adt
  • /sap/bc/ui5_ui5
  • /sap/opu/odata

Exposing / makes the whole system reachable. For production, add only the specific paths you need.
